Getting To Know People Who Make Our Advertising Happen – 5 Questions With Account Coordinator Stephanie Miller
Media is obviously a people-business. Personalities on-air, on-line and in social media create content that attracts audiences.
But many more people are involved in our daily operations than just the voices you hear, the faces you see or the authors you read. Without these behind-the-scenes roles, sponsorship fulfillment to our audiences wouldn’t happen.
Today, Radio Indiana introduces you to Stephanie Miller, the new Account Coordinator working with John Griffin.
Stephanie’s role is a hybrid position; providing a heavy dose of admin support for, and appropriate customer relations to specific sponsors affiliated with 1070/107.5 THE FAN, WIBC & Network Indiana.
As an Account Coordinator it is Stephanie’s responsibility to handle orders, make sure your ads are getting produced and set to air, send you your times reports when needed, and she also will help with any special invoicing request.
Sponsors are mission critical in this industry. What is the best part of your job as Account Coordinator involving them? The best part of my job as Account Coordinator involving sponsors is being able to meet so many different people and build multiple relationships. I believe as an employee of Emmis I am lucky enough to meet wonderful people in the Indianapolis area and provide our sponsors with the radio that they want.
What prior work experience and/or current skill set helps you the most now in this role? My prior work experience before this role is holding the position of Promotions Director at 88.7 WICR for two years, being an intern for the promotions department here at Emmis, and also being a waitress for five years at Steak N’ Shake. All the positions I have previously held have helped me become the outgoing social person I am today. I believe that being a great communicator is one of the most valuable assets that a sales person can have.
What is the most memorable advertising project you’ve worked on? The most memorable advertising project I have worked on so far has been Acoustic Stars and Guitars for Hank fm. As the intern at Emmis I learned how much work goes into putting on a huge concert. My job before the concert was to call winners and let them know they had won. When it came time for the concert I worked at the photobooth, set up different booths, and meet and greets. It was an awesome feeling being able to call winners and then see how excited they were at the concert to see some of their favorite artists. I went from going to country concerts to helping put them on and making it a huge success.
About your own media interests & tastes… When you’re not working, what kind of radio programming or podcasts do you like to listen to? The radio programming I listen to when I am working and also not working is Hank fm. I have listened to Hank fm ever since it was Wank and O’Brien in the mornings. I grew up listening to this station and it will always be my go to station.
And which person or site do you find most interesting on social media, and why? The person I find most interesting on social media is Thomas Rhett. I am a huge Thomas Rhett fan and think he posts the cutest pictures of his family and him touring.
