History

Among the over 13,000 radio stations across the United States, there are a relative few that are truly legendary.   WIBC is one of those radio stations.

Broadcasting live from Monument Circle in the heart of downtown Indianapolis.  WIBC Radio is Indy’s #1 source for news, talk and personalities.   Our street-level showcase studio is the centerpiece of America’s finest radio broadcast facility, located within the Emmis Communications World Headquarters.

WIBC Radio is a giant in news/talk radio, not only in Indiana, but across America.   The station has a 70+ year legacy of excellence in providing Indianapolis and Central Indiana with a 24-hour a day menu of news, traffic and weather, business news, entertaining talk shows, and service to the community.

The station received the greatest radio industry award when it received the NAB Marconi Award for Large Market Station of the Year in 2009.

The station has also year after year received national acclaim by being nominated four times as one of the top 5 news/talk stations in America by the National Association of Broadcasters. In 2003, WIBC received the NAB Marconi Award for News/Talk Station of the Year. In 2004, WIBC was again nominated for News/Talk Station of the Year. The Marconi to radio is what the Emmy is to TV.
